The fake FBI pop-up that is appearing on computers is completely bogus and is not real whatsoever. It is a virus, commonly called the FBI Virus, MoneyPak Virus, FBI MoneyPak Malware and more. It is quietly and maliciously installed on computers by hackers looking to make money and holding its victims hostage. You may see something called “MoneyPak” in one of the pop-ups to make it appear legitimate. Even though you may be aware that this is a scam, the MoneyPak Virus will stay on computers it infects until it is permanently removed. Removal instructions are at the end of the article.
You may notice that by restarting the computer it will not appear again for a little while but it will eventually pop back up. If you have this infection, remember that you have actual malware installed on the computer that will need to be removed in order for the computer to operate properly again. The FBI MoneyPak message states that the only way to unlock the computer is to pay a one or two hundred-dollar fine through MoneyPak within 72 hours. The amount varies from message to message. MoneyPak is a reloadable money card that can be purchased and used to pay merchants that accept MoneyPak. Some versions of the message include information that a MoneyPak card can be purchased at retail stores including 7-Eleven, Riteaid, CVS/Pharmacy, Kmart and others. The messages always threaten that, if the fine is not paid, a criminal case will be initiated that could result in jail for up to 12 years and fines of up to 100,000 dollars.

The FBI MoneyPak Virus gains access to a victim’s computer through an infected website that the victim visits or when infected files are downloaded from the Internet. Infected files may be labeled as some other type of program so that the user does not know that it really contains the FBI MoneyPak Virus. It is also distributed through spam email campaigns. Once the file is downloaded, the message pops up and the victim’s computer is effectively locked.
The FBI MoneyPak Virus is very similar to other ransomware including Gema and Police Central e-crime Unit. It also similar to ransomware Trojans such as Win32/Reveton.A and Trojan:Win32/Ransom.DU. The best way to avoid acquiring the FBI MoneyPak Virus is to keep a computer’s security and antivirus software up to date. Victims should not pay the fine that is demanded in the message. Virus Removal Instructions
The virus removal instructions we have outlined below has been proven remove the FBI MoneyPak Virus. You must be on the infected computer when performing these steps.
1 To begin, go ahead and reboot the infected computer. If the infected computer is turned off, go ahead and turn it on.
2 Immediately as the computer begins to boot, press F8 many times. Pressing F8 allows you to access the Advanced Options Menu.
3 Once you are in the Advanced Options Menu, use your arrow keys and select the Safe Mode with Networking option. Press enter when you have selected that option.
4 Windows will now boot into Safe Mode with Networking. Safe Mode with Networking will allow you to remove FBI MoneyPak which it would not allow when Windows was in normal mode.
5Now that the virus is not running it is time to begin removal. On your keyboard, click and hold the Windows key, then press the R key. See keyboard diagram below.
6 After you have pressed the Windows and R key, the Windows Run Box will open. Type exactly the following into the run box and click OK:
After clicking OK, your computer will connect to the internet and download our recommended virus removal program called Spyhunter.

8 After Spyhunter has scanned your computer you will see the FBI MoneyPak virus name in the scan results. Simply click “Fix Threats” to remove the virus.
9 After you click “Fix Threats” you are going to need to register Spyhunter to remove FBI MoneyPak. Please register Spyhunter and the virus will be removed.

10 After you have registered Spyhunter, and the virus was removed, you can safely reboot into Normal Mode. The FBI MoneyPak Virus will be completely gone.
