How To Remove Dr. Web Enhanced Protection Mode Virus – Virus Removal

Dr. Web Enhanced Protection Mode Virus is a malicious virus infecting Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 operating systems. If you are seeing the red Dr. Web Enhanced Protection Mode window in the picture below, then you are infected with a very dangerous virus. The window and taskbar icon generated by this virus is not from Dr. Web. The virus knows that you are running a Dr. Web program. It takes over Dr. Web and uses a similar looking icon to make you feel that everything is fine with Dr. Web.

This virus has so far been infecting computer users through a bogus Adobe Flash update. It is highly recommended that you do not update Adobe Flash unless the update is coming directly from the real Adobe flash update website. Facebook has become a popular distribution channel for this virus, so please be especially careful when browsing Facebook. Users have stated that they were infected with this virus after attempting to watch a video that was linked on Facebook.

This virus is extremely clever and manipulative. It recognizes that you are using Dr. Web and will cloak itself by mimicking the Dr. Web appearance. This is so you will still feel comfortable that your virus protection still is ok. However, your computer is under attack and your information is being stolen.

When windows launches you will see a beige window stating that the “release date of the databases” is current. The window can be seen below. Notice that the time and date on the window matches the exact date and time you logged in. This is another deceptive tactic aimed at reassuring you that everything is fine with your computer.

If you click on the fake taskbar icon a red window will appear stating: “Attention! Dr. Web operates under enhanced protection mode. This is a temporary measure necessary for immediate response to threat from virus. No action is required from you.”

Remember: This is not a real Dr. Web program, it is a rogue program. The real Dr. Web program has been disabled and is not protecting you.

You personal, financial and computer data are all at risk of being compromised. This virus wants you to feel comfortable that it is a real Dr. Web software application, when it is definitely not real. Dr. Web Enhanced Protection Mode Virus can log all of your passwords and other personal information that you enter as you browse the web.
