The Internet Crime Complaint Center Virus is a ransomware virus that infects a computer and attempts to scare you into thinking that you have committed a crime. Your computer is locked and unable to perform normal tasks, the only thing you will see on your computer is the virus window.
The fake Internet Crime Complaint Center notice says that you are being monitored via webcam and audio, sometimes it will actually show you in your webcam. The creators of this virus have cleverly enabled the use of the webcam in order to fool computer users even further.
The notice or warning letter tells you to pay a fine in order to have your computer unlocked and no longer face trouble from the authorities. The payment methods associated with the Internet Crime Complaint Center Virus are either MoneyPak or Ukash. Please do not believe this fake Internet Crime Complaint Center notice and do not pay the MoneyPak or the Ukash fine.
The creators of this virus want to scare you into paying the MoneyPak or Ukash fine. The notice typically says that you have been downloading pirated content, illegal pornography or other types of illegal activity. Not only does it state this bogus crimes that you have committed it also says you will face jail if you do not pay.
Attempting to figure out how or where you became infected with the Internet Crime Complaint Center Virus is difficult if not impossible. These viruses spread throughout the world through various methods. The files that contain the virus come in many forms including software updates, shareware and more. The virus removal instructions we have outlined below has been proven remove the Internet Crime Complaint Center Virus. You must be on the infected computer when performing these steps.
1 To begin, go ahead and reboot the infected computer. If the infected computer is turned off, go ahead and turn it on.
2 Immediately as the computer begins to boot, press F8 many times. Pressing F8 allows you to access the Advanced Options Menu.
3 Once you are in the Advanced Options Menu, use your arrow keys and select the Safe Mode with Networking option. Press enter when you have selected that option.
