(See the instructions below to Remove the Smart Check Virus permanently from your computer.)

About the Smart Check Virus: This virus is a dangerous infection caused by running malicious scripts on untrustworthy websites or in e-mails. These scripts install a fake security program that locates hard disk errors on the computer infected. Once found, the program prompts the user to purchase a fix, thereby stealing the user’s money. The fix itself is another stage of the infection, and opens up the computer to even worse viruses. The fix will not remove any aspect of the virus.

Are you pressing F8 immediately as the computer begins to reboot? Completely turn off your computer. Unplug the computer, plug it back in, then start the computer. IMMEDIATELY after you have turned the computer back on, click the F8 button many times until you see the advanced options menu. You must hit the F8 key immediately as the computer powers on, and do not stop hitting it until you see the advanced options menu. Please let us know if you still cannot get into the advanced options menu.
